Shawn Whitt – CEO

Shawn Whitt has served as the CEO for Resolutions Behavioral Health for 3 years with an impressive background in both the treatment field as well as the financial realm. His passion to help others led him to proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years. Post military service Shawn received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Vanguard University in Southern California and went on to pursue courses to become a Certified Financial Planner from Pepperdine University. He spent over 15 years in the financial sector earning various licenses and gaining experience in leadership roles. In addition to his vast breadth of knowledge in financial matters, Shawn possesses a heart for those in need. He strives to serve those struggling with substance abuse by opening his ears, eyes and heart. A quote by C.T. Studd guides him in the pursuit of caring for the addict who still suffers, “Some want to sit within the sound of a church or chapel bell; I want to run a rescue booth, within a yard from hell.” The past 5 years have been spent working tirelessly in the behavioral health field to improve the lives of addicts and alcoholics from all over the country. Shawn’s humble heart and strong vision has uniquely positioned him to be at the helm of our Resolutions team.

Andrew Maloof – VP of Business Development

Andrew Maloof’s life experiences led him to the recovery industry in 2014 where he began his career providing direct client care as a drug and alcohol counselor. He is a proud graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management. Andrew’s career path has taken him through multiple departments to enhance and further expand his knowledge in the behavioral health industry. He found his true calling as Director of Business Development, working directly with the teams who assist clients in their greatest time of need. Through humble promotions over the years, he now serves as the VP of Business Development at Resolutions Behavioral Health. Andrew has a true passion for recovery and is grateful to be a member of the Resolutions team.

Jamey Kureh – CFO

Jamey Kureh is the Chief Financial Officer for Resolutions Behavioral Health where she manages the company’s finances with all its subsidiaries. Jamey joins Resolutions after spending 14 years in the engineering corporate world with companies like Jacobs Engineering and Worley Parsons. She most recently served as a PCM on the California High Speed Rail projects while continuing to perform her CFO role at the company. Jamey’s vast experience coupled with her eagerness to help other lends itself well to the Behavioral Health field in hopes of making a difference.

Alyson Brooks – Business Development

Alyson Brooks moved from Tennessee to southern California in 2014 with a background in the insurance industry. She found her niche in the drug and alcohol treatment field and quickly moved her way through the ranks of treatment facilities – working everything from detox tech to where her passion is now – business development. In this role she works tirelessly to provide treatment to those who seek freedom from the bonds of alcoholism. She is humbled to be a part of such a driven and passionate team. 

Jake Sutphin – Business Development

Jake Sutphin is part of the Business development and Marketing team for Resolutions Behavioral Health. Jake takes a very strategic approach when developing relationships. With his outgoing personality and his ability to identify and target in on important partnerships he is a great asset to our team. Jake grew up on the Navesink River in Red Bank, NJ where he attended Red Bank Catholic High school and continued his studies in Business Management at Brookdale community College and The University of Hartford. For the past 10 years Jake has worked in marketing, management and the logistics field. Outside of work, Jake is married to his wife Alyssa who is starting her career as a school teacher. He loves to Surf, travel, camp, snowboard and going on hikes with his wife and their Dog Lycan. Most importantly Jake loves to share his love and passion for life with others.


In 2014, Jessica moved to Orange County after graduating with her bachelor’s in psychology from California University Monterey Bay and found herself working in recovery where she found a strong passion for helping those suffering from addiction. Jessica began working as a house manager and worked her way up to Director of Operations due to her passion and dedication. In her position, she uses her experience and personable approach to ensure an exceptional client experience from the first day through to successful discharge. Jessica strives not only to create a safe space for our guest but also for our staff. If you would have asked her 4 years ago where she saw her life going, she would have never anticipated working in recovery but now she can’t see herself in any other field. She’s devoted in helping make a positive change alongside her team members.


Bobby graduated from American International College in 2012 as a double major obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Criminal Justice. Following graduation he worked in the human services field as a case manager for troubled youth in the foster care system. Bobby quickly recognized the need for quality substance abuse treatment as he saw firsthand the effect that drugs and alcohol have on not only the individual but the family as a whole. Bobby is passionate about bettering the lives of individuals struggling with addiction as a result of personal experience professionally and within his immediate family as well.


Myles has been of service to people in recovery and the treatment community for the past 15 years. Myles business savvy and passion for helping those struggling with addiction is unparallel. Myles has a strong faith that he credits to guiding him in his life’s mission. He is a devoted father and husband to his family and spends his time supporting his children in their sporting activities and family functions. Myles is grateful for the opportunity to serve the community and those suffering from the disease of addiction. Myles humble attitude and kind heart are recognized by all who have the opportunity to be a part of his life.


Rick Hughes serves on the Executive Team as the Client Advocate. After 35 years of active addiction, Rick turned his life around in 2008. He began his career in treatment with a relentless passion to serve the addict still suffering from their disease. Rick has held numerous titles spanning a decade of professional treatment service. Rick’s heart, passion and mission is to guide, nurture, heal and counsel both men and women to recovery and finding their life of purpose.


Sedona has been working in the treatment industry for the past 4 years. Sedona started her career as a Support Staff, providing direct client care and gaining her foothold in the treatment field. She has held numerous positions including Lead Tech, Facility Supervisor and Marketing Representative, all which led her to her current role as Director of Admissions. Her passion for helping those struggling with addiction comes from her own personal recovery and relationships with family who struggle with addiction. Her fierce devotion to reaching people who need help and strong faith in God allow her to touch the lives of so many to help them find their path to healing and recovery.


Treating those who struggle with drugs and alcohol with dignity and respect while sharing experiences, strengths, and hopes are words to live by. The trials and tribulations of Cesar’s life has taken him from the pinnacle of success to the depths of despair, but along the way, he was afforded grace. Thus, he has experienced personal growth that fuels his passion in helping people.

A native Southern Californian growing up in the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance, Cesar attended college at UC Irvine, and then The University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA where he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1987. By practicing pharmacy for over 20 years in the retail setting, he has gained valuable experience in helping people. His struggles in the pharmacy field led him to pursue a more fulfilling and worthwhile career helping those who struggle with drugs and alcohol.

He went back to school at Saddleback College and earned a certification in Alcohol and Drug studies and is currently certified with CAADE as a CATC V and CCAPP as LAADC-CA. He is truly humbled to be in the position where he can help and impact lives of individuals who struggle with life in general.

Brendon Kim – Operations Manager

Brendon Kim is the Operations Manager for Resolutions Behavioral Health, who oversees the administrative functions — from JCAHO compliance, to helping clients with everyday needs, to daily programmatic operations. Brendon has been working in substance abuse treatment for over 3 years. He started as a Support Technician, to a Lead Technician, and has made his way to Operations Manager. Brendon has an Associate’s Degree in Behavioral Science from Los Angeles Pierce Community College. His passion for the addiction field stems from his personal experience with substance abuse.

Rupa Ward, MA, MFTI, EMDR – Cognitive Therapy Primary Therapist

Rupa Ward has an M. A. in Psychology with Marriage and Family Therapy emphasis. Rupa has been a practicing Certified EMDR therapist for nearly a decade and has completed Levels 1, 2, and 3 of the Gottman Couple Counseling Training and Gottman Couple and Addiction Recovery. She also has extensive training and experience in Individual, Family and Couples Therapy, Addiction Recovery, Loss and Grief, Trauma Resolution, Group Counseling, and Somatic Method. In addition, she has a great deal of experience in treating Dissociative Identity Disorders. Rupa is also bilingual.

Rupa came to Safe Harbor in 2009 and truly thrives in our loving and caring environment. Having lived in several very distinct cultures, she has experienced first hand the struggles and aspirations that arise in diverse cultural backgrounds. She has made it her mission to use her personal experiences to help those feeling lost begin to feel connected and whole. She has also maintained a committed spiritual practice, and she knows that the power of the mind and the spirit to overcome various life problems is very real. Her practice combines different therapeutic techniques with strategies derived from mindfulness practice and body-mind integration practices. She has been offering mindfulness workshops in both treatment centers and universities for the last ten years and has been leading Safe Harbor’s Mindfulness groups.

Ruya Urso, M.A., LMFT – Therapist

Ruya Is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist offering supportive, strength-based therapy to her clients. She has a B.A. in Psychology from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia and an M.A. in Counseling with Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Webster University in Irvine, California.

Throughout her carrier, Ruya has worked with clients with a variety of issues and from all socio-economic, cultural and religious backgrounds. Her experience in College Hospital, a mental health facility, trained her to understand how different mental health issues can be compounded by trauma and substance abuse, as well as preparing her for dealing with clients with a variety of mental health problems.

She has extensive experience with children, adolescents and adults who had experienced different traumas. Among her areas of experience are anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, women’s issues, adolescents’ issues and family problems. She is trained to utilize many different treatment modalities and treatment techniques depending on the client’s needs.

Ruya believes that her clients have an innate potential for growth and with guidance and support they can persevere through difficult times. She believes in empathy, compassion and collaboration in order for real change to happen, as well as believing that therapy can help people develop the appropriate skills to cope with challenges of life. Ruya makes it her mission to help her clients develop coping skills and make the changes they need to live a more fulfilling and productive life.

Taryn Mangan, RADT – Case Manager

Taryn has had the unique and invaluable experience of being raised in the Safe Harbor Community. Having been exposed to the program since the age of 6 months, Taryn has literally had a lifetime of experience and exposure to substance use disorders as well as recovery.

As a child, Taryn watched her Mother’s unwavering commitment and dedication the suffering women who came to Safe Harbor. Taryn witnessed Velvet’s dreams of saving lives blossom into reality. Today, women from all over the country enter the doors of Safe Harbor to be a part of the love and hope that is offered here. Taryn is inspired by the love that is shared with the women of Safe Harbor and is dedicated to continuing in her Mother’s footsteps, ensuring Velvet’s legacy is preserved.

Love, respect and compassion are the qualities that Taryn offers her clients. She believes it is an honor to witness client’s return to their true and authentic selves.

By utilizing her experience with 12-step programs, spiritual and educational teachings, Taryn supports and guides women on their journey to health, happiness and long term sobriety.

Rudy Minor – Case Manager

Rudy began working in the behavioral health field in 2007 and is currently a case manager for Milestone Detox. She obtained her associate’s degree in drug and alcohol studies, accreditation as a certified drug and alcohol counselor, and is furthering her education by pursuing a bachelor’s degree in human services – mental health. Her passion drives her to make a difference in the lives of individuals suffering with substance abuse.

Sierra Acosta – Chef

Chef Sierra Acosta comes to Safe Harbor with over 10 years of industry experience. After growing up in a rough environment she turned to culinary school as a way to learn about a world outside of her comfort zone. Her career initially led her to serving the homeless population at a local shelter and she eventually became the Program Director in addition to creating a menu of nourishing and comforting food. From there she spent years refining her techniques and becoming a personal chef for high end clients up and down the California coast. She felt the pull of those in need and her heart and compassion is now put into the meals she creates for those suffering from alcoholism. Chef Sierra’s dedication is evident in the love she pours into every meal and interaction for whom she cooks.

Whitney Stewart – Business Developmentr

Whitney Stewart brings 3 years of field experience to Resolutions Behavioral Health. Before transitioning into the drug and alcohol treatment industry she followed her passion of training horses. During her time in the field she has held many positions including Director of Admissions, Executive Director, and Utilization Review and even founded a women’s detox facility. As a Business Development rep for Safe Harbor, she is thrilled to be a part of the journey of sobriety for the women who walk through our doors.

Tara Edwards – Therapist
